An Introduction To Our Spice Inventory
Meet the Spice Girl & CEO ✨
Welcome to Spice It Up! My name is Asha Woldu and I’m a proud Chicago native! I grew up in a ethnically diverse home from an African American mother and Eritrean father. This alone introduced me to unique traditional foods and recipes from a young age. I started Spice It Up! because I wanted to share my passion for food, nutrition and diverse ethnic spice knowledge with the world to showcase how spices can be used in various food products. I graduated with my B.S. degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and Chemistry which allowed me to discover and explore the food product development aspect of food science and food chemistry. I have studied abroad in multiple countries, one being Greece, to learn and develop new food products. I have a lot of background knowledge with foreign spices and dishes but my passion for nutrition propelled me to develop products that are not only healthy but tasty. Spices and other ingredients are ethically sourced and imported from various parts of the world which is one way to bring awareness to third world countries who are in need. If you have purchased our products feel free to take pictures and videos and send it to us via email or Instagram to get featured!

Berbere is a spice blend native to the Eastern African region and is used in various dishes. Our Cajun spice is a co-fushion of Eritrean/Ethiopian influences combined with traditional Southern African-American Cajun blends. Be sure to check it out and give us your feedback!
